Support WMAA’s Mission
The per-pupil stipend we receive from the State of Michigan only covers about 90% of the programs and support we offer to our students. Gifts from generous donors who believe in our mission make it possible for us to provide extras such as:
- Airplanes and flight instruction
- New Student Orientation
- Hands-on classes like Build-A-Plane
- Teacher development opportunities like Curriculum Camp and Teacher Leadership Academy
- Fully-equipped lab spaces for tinkering and building
We invite you to soar with us as we give students unequalled opportunities to grow. Please see the FAQ below, or contact us to learn more about any of these options.
Note that West Michigan Aviation Academy Foundation is a 501(c)(3)/509a1 charitable organization. Gifts to the WMAA Foundation meet charitable deduction guidelines.
Frequently-Asked Questions
What forms of planned gifts may be made to West Michigan Aviation Academy Foundation?
The Foundation's board-approved gift acceptance policy welcomes many types of gifts, including gifts
from a will or trust, retirement assets, and more. Please see the other side for a complete list of options.
If you have questions about another form of planned gift, please contact the Foundation to discuss.
To whom should the gift be made out?
Please ensure that your gift is designated to West Michigan Aviation Academy Foundation, Tax ID
82-4783279. For tax purposes, note that the Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization. A gift designated
to the school rather than the Foundation will have different tax implications for the donor, since the
school is not designated as a charitable organization.
How will my gift be used?
Your gift can be designated to either general operations or restricted funds. If you do not choose a
designation, the WMAA Foundation board will apply your gift at its discretion.
What is the restricted fund?
The Sustainability Fund is used for investing in innovative learning experiences that cannot be
funded through the State’s per-pupil allowance. The WMAA Foundation Board of Directors will be
accountable for the funds and their use. Although it is not an endowment in the technical sense, the
fund is restricted. The capital in the fund may only be accessed at the Foundation Board’s discretion.
Do you recognize people who choose to make planned gifts?
We are honored to publicly recognize and thank people who make a planned gift to the Foundation.
If you would like to let us know of your intentions in advance, please complete and return the Legacy
